LIBRARY AND ARCHIVE
The library and the archive offer a deeper insight into Silesian history and culture. The reference library provides an extensive spectrum for pupils, students, scientists, collectors, and interested visitors. The collections of the specialized scientific library include publications on the regional and local history, folk life, art and handicrafts, and address many other cultural topics, including economics, politics, flight and expulsion. Another focus of the collection is set on biographies and the works of Silesian writers. Next to standard works, historical rarities as well as current publications and periodicals are part of the collection.
The book collections can be researched online via the Union Catalogue of Eastern Europe (voe); journals and periodicals in the journals and magazines database (ZDB). An extended search allows the library’s code “KOW 2” to be entered in order to limit the search to our stocks only.
In addition to written historical traditions, Silesian culture and everyday life evidence, the archive of HAUS SCHLESIEN contains a comprehensive collection of picture postcards, graphics and maps. The archive can only be accessed upon prior agreement by telephone.
